The card is changing and this could be a best and last offer

Amex is changing the card come January to the Amex Ascend – part of a new trio of card products launched since Amex became the sole issuer of the card ( booting Citi offer the deal). So if you pick up this Surpass it’ll be converted to an Ascend come the new year ( at some point). I picked this version up last year through a similar, but inferior 100k offer, and just recently paid the annual fee for the second year. Not only do you get Hilton Gold for just having the card, you can earn up to 80k points a year referring your friends and family to it.  I’m assuming once the card is converted into the Ascend that referrals will continue, but there isn’t any guarantee. With that said,  this is THE very best offer on the card…ever.  I can’t earn a referral bonus because my referral is for only 75k, but I’ve added links to Frequent Miler who can refer to the card if you’d like it. 100k bonus points after $3k spend, and then an additional 25k bonus points after another $1k. And if I didn’t have it yet…I’d pick it up.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex℠and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

So would it be in our best interests to cancel the Surpass card in December? I am wondering if there ends up being a new intro offer for this Aspire card, if we’ll want to make sure that we haven’t had the Aspire card due to the card conversion, thus making us eligible for the once-in-a-lifetime sign up bonus later
