Dublin Airport Executive Lounge Review

The Dublin Airport Executive Lounge review is part of the weekend wedding in London trip report. In case you haven’t been following this trip report it was a super fun, yet hectic, trip to London. I left on a Thursday to fly to SFO, stayed overnight at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco, flew on Friday night through Dusseldorf on Air Berlin, and finally made it to London on Saturday night. The wedding was the following day and then on Monday morning we routed through Dublin so that we could nab a great business class deal and fly on American’s 777-200. All in all, it was awesome!!! In order to nab that great business class deal, we had to position ourselves to Dublin, and while we were there we were able to check out the Dublin Airport Executive Lounge in Terminal 1.

The Deets:

  • When: August 2016
  • Where: Dublin Terminal 1
  • Who can get in:
    • Business Class Passengers on a bevy of airlines: see the pic
    • Priority Pass Members
  • Location: Just past security, turn left, go upstairs.

Check in:

Very quick. In fact, I was expecting it to be far more hectic given my experience in SFO and the KLM/Air France lounge. The executive lounge absorbs pretty much all the premium cabin traffic that is transiting DUB. I have to say, the lounge was very well run, orderly, clean, and staffed with very nice people. We were checked in very quickly and given a quick run down of the lounge.

Essentially there are two sides that offer the same spread of goodies: scones, fruit, yogurt, etc, etc. There are some alcoholic drink options as well as sodas, juices, and water. I would highly suggest turning to left as the seating areas are much larger and I believe the food and bev options to be more plentiful even though they are the same choices.

To the Right: the smaller of the two options

And then to the Right, where we spent most our time.

I would have taken more pics of the computers, but there was a kid there and let’s be honest…how creepy would it have been for a dude with a small stuffed monkey taking pictures of a small child on a computer? LOL.  So this is as good as it’s gonna get with the work area.

Food Options:

The food looked really fresh, and while it wasn’t enough for a meal, it was perfect in it’s presentation. This lounge gets what it is. It’s not trying to serve as anything other than a place where people can grab a snack, a refreshment, use the free wifi, and kick it for a bit. I thought the staff and the presentation of food and bev were great.

Overall:

This lounge serves the purpose we were looking for when we planned our Dublin routed itinerary. We knew we’d have more substantive options in London and we really just needed some place to come and hang out, surf the web, and have a snack while we waited for our flight. That’s what this lounge serves: the quick in and out. This isn’t really suited for a long layover. If you’re there for more than a couple hours I think you’d need to seek food elsewhere, and there aren’t any of the luxuries like showers or beds that would make a 8 or 10 hour layover easier on the system. But, what they aim to achieve, I think they do very well. We had a nice time and the staff could not have been friendlier.

The food looks a lot better than when I passed through in December – also joining an AA flight from LHR to the US. I was there very early though so maybe it gets better as the day goes on. Was Miles not looking his best that morning or just feeling camera shy?

Hey Leo – Ya not sure…maybe they’ve stepped up their game here recently? Miles enjoyed the Greek wedding we attended far more than he should have and was passed out in my backpack. Unbelievable really…
