HELLS YES We’re Requesting a metal Citi Prestige card

The new benefits are out and METAL is one of them. I know, I know, everyone is giving a big fat yawn to the metal card. NOT MILES. Miles wants a metal card right now. Why? There is no metal in our wallet and we feel desperately inferior to all the other big bad point bloggers out there. Our wallet has nary a personal Platinum or a Reserve, or any other metal card that is currently out there. So what did we do?! We logged straight into our account and went about requesting a metal Citi Prestige card!!!

WE CAN NOT WAIT TO CLACKETY CLACKETY CLACKETY CLACK OUR METAL CARD ON THE TABLE

I think Tron, from the Chappelle Show, best describes our feeling right now. It’s like we won a hot hand of dice!

Finally found someone who enjoys metal cards more than I do! Haha I enjoyed this post. Other readers have reported disappointment with Citi’s initial batch due to printing issues (e.g. text misalignments / off centered). Did you receive the new card yet? Thoughts? Also, the Citi/AAdvantage Executive got a new metal makeover, too!

    • Miles August 22, 2017

Mark – who doesn’t like a little metal 🙂 I received mine and thought it looked pretty nice, good weight, clean design

Dying to know what the 24 month rule is. Should I PM you, Miles?

    • Miles August 4, 2017

Hey Stephan – Citi’s 24 month rule stipulates that you can only receive a sign up bonus once every 24 months on any card within a family of similarly earning cards. So you can only get One Thank You bonus every 24 months, and the clock starts whenever you sign up or close an account. Downgrading seems to circumvent this rule; however, there is some reporting that downgrading has restarted the clock ( seems to be specific to new account numbers being issued tho).

While there’s really no good reason to keep the card with the new devaluations, IMO, the metal card makes an awesome flat head screwdriver.

    • Miles July 18, 2017

Christian – haha – the two biggest incentives for me is the 4th night free and Citi’s 24 month rule.

  • tim July 18, 2017

There’s nothing worse than being behind a douchebag in line who likes to clank a metal card down at the register.

    • Miles July 18, 2017

tim – make sure you say hi, Miles loves selfies

  • Bill July 18, 2017

FWIW – The chat assistant told me to simply report the card as damaged using the account management tool on the site and a new metal one would be sent out, so all it takes is a couple clicks.

    • Miles July 18, 2017

      Great tip! Thanks Bill

      • Jason July 20, 2017

Doesn’t work, just tried that and got another plastic card FedEx delivered to me.

        • Miles July 20, 2017

Jason – I just wonder if it doesn’t need to be after the 23rd?

          • Jason July 22, 2017

Maybe, the new card still said Admirals Club access on the back as well.

  • Michael July 18, 2017

I had the same conversation today, and by automatically, they mean by November…. you have to push them a bit more to get it any sooner.
