How to: 5* Mexico or Caribbean All inclusive + flights…Free!

Close your eyes and think of hopping on a plane to a 5* resort in the Caribbean or Mexico? Margaritas, Sun, Sand, Daiquiris, and lounging by the pool!!!! Got that picture?

Would it look like this?

Or maybe this?

Looks incredible right?

Now what if all it took was for you and your partner to sign up for just 2 credit cards?  You could go to Cabo, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta or Jamaica for 4 nights, 5 days free. And to top it off you could fly free, and the hotels?? They’re all-inclusive! So you wouldn’t spend a dime on dinner, room service, beer, drinks, or activities.

There are two cards that Miles carries in his wallet at all times because of the perks that come along with them. The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card and the Chase Hyatt Visa Signature. Now the perks alone are worth keeping in his wallet, but for someone who doesn’t have them… here’s how you and your honey can make this trip happen.

Hyatt Visa –

  1. After $1000 minimum spend you get 2 free nights at ANY hotel in the world. Yes, any!!!! So you could go to those above, the park hyatt tokyo, paris, buenos aires, it doesn’t matter. You get 2 each!
  2. You also get Platinum status in the Hyatt brand.

  3. You also get a free night ( category 1-4) every year you keep the card. That’s worth at least $200, just for keeping the card.
    1. Examples: Andaz Costa Rica Papagayo, Hyatt Santa Barbara, Grand Hyatt Berlin, Grand Hyatt Singapore, Grand Hyatt Dubai.
      1. Miles has stayed at many of these and they are incred and typically >$300 a night. The value is incredible.

So that gets you 4 nights at one of these incredible resorts. How about the flights?!

Chase Sapphire Preferred.

  1. 40,000 points after $4000 spend in 3 months.
  2. Great transfer partners

    3.  How to use this to our advantage.

If we were looking at this from Los Angeles to fly to Cabo, then we would be looking at a direct flight on American Airlines. American is a partner of BA and you can watch a video here to see how to use BA points to fly on American. BA has a distance based award chart and for this particular flight it would cost 7500 Avios each way.

Meaning after transferring 1:1 from Chase to BA you would have 44000-15000= 29000 points leftover. Enough to take another roundtrip flight from LAX to JFK on either United, or BA. And even enough for a category 6 Hyatt. That’s per person too!!!

That means that you would not only have 4 nights away, you could actually have 6!  The Hyatt Ziva is a Category 6 hotel and Sapphire Preferred is a transfer partner of Hyatt as well!!! See how aligning your spend and cards can open up all sorts of opportunities for amazing travel and deals?
