MMMondayMemo: How long does it take to transfer into Singapore Airlines Krisflyer?

Each Monday, Miles has decided to drop a tip, hint, tutorial, trick that maybe you’ve missed or haven’t heard before. If you’re an expert in this field, some of these may be things you already know, but there are a lot of beginners out there who are just getting their feet wet which is why we created the Monkey Miles Monday Memos. Over the past few weeks I’ve been rolling out my Mom’s EPIC Around the World Surprise Trip to celebrate her 75th Birthday. We utilized Singapore Krisflyer quite a bit to secure Singapore Suites and Lufthansa First Class. I thought it’d be helpful to show you the transfer times between popular programs and Singapore. So this week’s Monday Memo is: How long does it take to transfer into Singapore Airlines Krisflyer?

Why I love Singapore Krisflyer…

I’ve written 3 posts in the past on transfer times:

Ultimate Rewards, Citi Thank You, and Amex Membership Rewards. Here’s a consolidated chart. I added in the average time it takes to transfer SPG to Singapore ( which I haven’t done, but looked at various sources online

While these times may vary…they are what I’ve experienced ( aside from SPG)

ProgramTime
Chase Ultimate Rewards4 hours
Citi Thank You12-48 hours
American Express Membership Rewards10 - 18 hours
SPG StarPoints7+days (according to Frugal Travel Guy - transfer done on Monday Mornings)

I’ve written about it in the past, but Singapore is my preferred currency for Lufthansa bookings

Yes, there are a few options that provide better redemption rates ( Japan Airlines, Asiana, Avianca, Aeroplan), but none of those options have as many transfer partners as Singapore. Singapore also charges just $20 to make changes to the ticket.

Who doesn’t want BOTH nose seats on a 747-8 in Lufthansa First?!

Like what we’re saying? We’d love it if you’d sign up for our email newsletter 🙂 We post every day and would hate it if you missed out!
