Review: Hyatt House Colorado Springs
BoardingArea had a little get together over the weekend and I needed a place to crash for the night to attend the festivities. Rates were ridiculously high to pay cash…$219 for a Hyatt House? Cahmon! Luckily the Hyatt House Colorado Springs is a Tier 1 World of Hyatt property and can be redeemed for just 5000 points. The hotel is almost $250 with taxes – that’s almost $0.05 per point. Usually I like to redeem cash + points rates because it increases the valuation, qualifies for elite requirements, AND towards qualifying for a free category 4 night by staying at 5 different properties. Unfortunately, cash + points weren’t available when I booked the hotel, but at 5000 World of Hyatt points ( still feels weird to say) I thought the Hyatt House Colorado Springs was an excellent value play.
See I’m not lying…it was that much!

Check in –
Both DW from AcCountingYourPoints and I had interesting check in experiences. I arrived SUPER late and think I just got someone who was working the graveyard shift and was having a bit of fun. He had some issues on his reservation and we had a chuckle the following morning over breakfast. He and I ran into Tyler from Resort Traveler the next morning – this hotel was getting full on reviewed! The guys from No Mas Coach and a few others hit up the Hyatt Place down the road – all in all – points were being spent in Colorado Springs at entry level Hyatt properties. Jeez, ok, enough about my social life on to the review!
The hotel has quite nice views!
The room:
5000 points is all this is? The room is huge with a small kitchenette, has a separate living room, and comes with free breakfast. I had a similar experience staying at the Hyatt Place in Charlotte – I could see myself staying in one of these for a longer stay. Is this the lap of luxury? Obviously not, but pound for point, it’s VERY solid and I’m a fan. I could see this as a great way for a small family or group of friends taking over a suite and loving it.
The really cool thing about Hyatt House is the kitchen. It’s fully stocked and they’ll even get your groceries for you.
Breakfast:
If you’re accustomed to entry level hotel breakfast I think you’d be pleasantly surprised – it’s a small thing, but they had Almond milk…that’s pretty nice when you don’t use soy or normal milk. I was udderly impressed 😉
Pool and Fitness:
Small, but enough to work up a sweat, and honestly…I wasn’t expecting it to have these facilities. Plus, when you’re at this altitude, you’ll be out of breath walking up a flight of stairs.
Overall:
I’ll be heading back to Colorado Springs in the fall and if points are available…I’m back here. 5000 points – are you kidding me? They even have a bar that I didn’t visit and a sundry store, little business center – 5k points? When you can transfer those bad boys in from Chase it’s a absolute no brainer. The only thing that would make it better is if Cash + Points were avail.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.
