The SPG Amex Biz 35k has a limited time increased sign up bonus ( it runs until 11/1/2017). I don’t have the card, never have, but it presents an incredible way to fly Lufthansa First Class so I thought I’d lay it out for those interested. The long and short – SPG transfers to airline programs 20k:25k. Yes, every 20k SPG points you move to a participating airline program yields you 25k airline miles. The way to get into Lufthansa First? Simply transfer 40k SPG into Asiana. Those 50k Asiana Club Miles will put your butt squarely in a Lufthansa First Class seat. THAT is how you can easily get into Lufthansa First Class with just one card sign up: The SPG Amex Biz.

You will get hit with a few hundred in taxes, fees, surcharges…Some data points are showing long transfer times ( maybe 2 weeks ) so if you’re thinking of redeeming with Lufthansa you may want to move them over ahead of when you’d need the miles. Lufthansa typically releases inventory within 2 weeks of departure – this would obviously make it difficult to secure with a longer than usual transfer time.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.
