American Express is currently offering a transfer bonus to FlyingBlue which is the loyalty program of Air France and KLM. Both airlines are members of SkyTeam and offer flights from the US to Europe for 62.5k each way ( be aware that surcharges can be quite high). Double that up to fly roundtrip, and you’d normally be dropping 125k points, but with this 25% transfer bonus, you’ll be sliding in at just 100k roundtrip.  The transfer bonus goes until June 15th, 2018 so there is a little of a month left on the promotion.

Here’s the calendar of July from Lax to LHR

While these aren’t all direct flights, it’s a healthy dose availability to cross the pond at a great rate with low fees. With the transfer you’re talking just 50k miles and $23.90 to fly – that’s incredible. In fact, the American Express Business Platinum card is offering a welcome bonus of 100k after $25k ( I know, it’s a hefty min spend) which give you more than enough points to fly roundtrip in business class with this promotion.

I haven’t flown on Air France’s business class, and despite tacking on taxes and fees, I’d like to check it out. This may provide a great opportunity to snag one and save miles at the same time.

Don’t forget, FlyingBlue is also a transfer partner of Ultimate Rewards, Citi, and SPG meaning if your Amex account is short, you could also transfer from those programs to hit the balance you need.

You could also go to Hawaii in econ for just 24k miles roundtrip

Typically the redemption is 30k miles roundtrip, but with the transfer bonus, Voila – it’s just 24k miles. Incredible.

If you’re planning on utilizing this transfer bonus, make sure you do so by June 15th when the offer ends.
