If you’re going to add a credit card to your wallet, you want to make sure you’re doing so when you can get the most bang for your buck. That is exactly what the latest offer from Chase represents with their United Explorer Business card, a best ever 75k after $5k spend. If you’re someone who regularly flies United, the benefits you’ll enjoy on the airline outweigh the $95 annual fee year after year. That feature image you see above…a United partner, EVA, and their business class: Royal Laurel. Believe me, it’s quite ROYAL! Let’s take at this card, its perks, features, and benefits.
Here are the details:
- Limited time offer: Ends March 18, 2019
- 75k welcome offer after $5k spend in 3 months
- The normal annual fee of $95 is waived the first year
- 2x miles at
- Restaurants, Gas Stations, and Office Supply Stores
- United purchases
- 1x miles everywhere else
- Free Checked bag
- 2 United Club passes ( single use each ) – you’ll get these every year you hold the card
- Expanded Award availability
- cardholders have more saver award access
- Priority boarding for you and companions on United flights
- Add Employee cards at no cost
The 3 benefits I think outweigh the $95 annual fee.
- Free Checked Bag
- Unless you maintain status on United you’ll be paying $30 every time you check a bag, this card eliminates that worry and expense.
- 2 United Club passes every year.
- Expanded award availability
- This isn’t a myth, you do get access to more space on more flights. The ability to use your miles with greater ease is very valuable.
Am I small business?
Chase is very friendly to entrepreneurs and small business owners. In fact, if you haven’t been in business for long, or you haven’t established yourself with an EIN, you can still apply as a Sole Proprietor ( fill in your SSN ). If you run a small side business (think bloggers, ebay sellers, tutors, consultants, etc) and want a card to segregate your business income from your personal income at tax time…this is a great opportunity to earn a load of points and help yourself out.
Personally, I have two businesses that I run, one has an EIN, and one doesn’t. I still need to keep all of their records separate, and so I have cards for each business.
What can 75k United miles do?
I just flew back from South America on United’s brand spankin’ new Polaris. Great product, and can be yours for 60k United miles. It’s also rolling out on more and more flights to Europe and Asia. In fact, I’m going to be flying the new Polaris from EWR to TLV very soon as well!
There are also the partners…like Swiss Air and their Throne. Just 70k from the States to Europe.
United is also a Chase transfer partner.
This is one of the best parts of the Chase portfolio of cards…crossover. Let’s say you really want to fly on Lufthansa First Class and use United miles, but don’t have the 110k miles it would take. The 80k you’d earn ( 75k welcome + 5k spend ) would put you within 30k of your dream redemption. You could use the points you’ve earned from cards listed below to shore up your balance.
This is a very solid card for those who are looking to align their interests with United and pick up an all time high welcome offer of 75k United miles. The expanded award availability can come in handy when looking to make last minute bookings when prices skyrocket: one of the few times I think point redemptions can be useful for domestic economy. Make the right decision for yourself and your situation, but the deal ends in a few days, so if you’re in the market…seize it!
