In this article I will show you how you can turn Marriott Bonvoy® Titanium Elite Status into the following

  • United® MileagePlus® Premier® Silver Status
    • Free bag, seats, check, boarding on United and Star Alliance partners
  • Japan Airlines Crystal Status
    • Free bag, seats, check, boarding on Alaska, American, and One World Partners
  • Air Canada Aeroplan 25k Status
    • Free bag, seats, check, boarding on Star Alliance partners
  • World of Hyatt Status
    • Potentially up to Globalist from a Aeroplan match

Gaining Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Status

As you can see, Titanium is the highest status you can gain within Marriott’s tier system without hitting a spend threshold. Funny enough, my wife had well over 100 nights in 2024, but we didn’t have the qualifying spend. We spent over 100 nights in a hotel in Panama while she filmed several movies…none of the spend counted though!

Using Marriott credit cards to earn elite nights

This means that if you held a Brilliant and anything other than a Bold…you’d start the year with 40 elite nights. Funny enough, the past several years, Marriott has had double elite night promos from Feb to May. Meaning, you’d earn to earn 35 elite nights to hit Titanium, but it’d only require 18 during the promo period. When you’re talking about getting 3 airline elite statuses and the potential for Hyatt Globalist…that’s pretty awesome and worthy of a mattress run.

As a side note… if you’re just wanting lounge access and free breakfast…go for Platinum which can be had a perk from the Brilliant.

Marriott’s new partnership with Japan Airlines

In July of 2026 Marriott and Japan Airlines struck a partnership. If you have Titanium Status you can now match it to Japan Airlines, get a bunch of Status Points ( JAL calls these FLY ON points ), but also comped Crystal Status. To register for these benefits, visit https://travel-partner.marriott.com/japan-airlines/ja-jp(Opens in a new window to Japan Airlines Travel partner web page) (Japanese) or https://travel-partner.marriott.com/japan-airlines/en-gb(Opens in a new window Japan Airline Travel partner web page) (English).

Marriott Bonvoy Base Members

  • Receive 2,000 complimentary FLY ON Points.

Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite Members

  • Receive 5,000 complimentary FLY ON Points.

Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Members

  • Receive 10,000 complimentary FLY ON Points.

Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite Members

  • Receive 20,000 complimentary FLY ON Points.

Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite Members

  • Receive 30,000 complimentary FLY ON Points plus complimentary Crystal status (or higher)

Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite

  • Receive 40,000 complimentary FLY ON Points plus complimentary Crystal status (or higher)

Japan Airlines Crystal Status = One World Ruby = free bags and preferred seats on American Airlines & Alaska + others.

  • 1st checked bag free
  • Access to Priority Check in
  • Acces to Preferred Seating

Most of my readers are American, so you’d likely be using these on American Airlines or Alaska Airlines flights – you’d need to credit it to Japan Airlines. Personally, JAL miles are more valuable than AA miles anyways, but you wouldn’t be able to earn AA status this way. You can go here to read about it

The Marriott + Aeroplan partnership

In 2025 Marriott and Aeroplan partnered up. And guess what… they gave Titanium and Ambassadors Aeroplan 25k status. Why does that matter? Because Aeroplan went and partnered up with Hyatt.

Aeroplan also partnered with Hyatt with an annual challenge

If you have Aeroplan Elite Status ( 25k and above ) you can do an ANNUAL 90 day challenge to hit Hyatt status. You need to stay just 20 nights during that promo period and you’ll get Globalist for the remainder of the year + 14 months. So if you hit it this year, you’d get it through 2026, 2027, and it’d expire in February of 2028. Note that this Globalist would effectively be Gloablist lite since you wouldn’t have the suite upgrade certs, etc, etc. But you would be guaranteed all the other perks that come with that status.

For Aeroplan Members

  • Starting today, Aeroplan Elite Status Members and eligible premium credit cardholders can now unlock World of Hyatt status faster with an annual 90-day challenge:
    • Earn Discoverist status with 4 nights
    • Earn Explorist status with 10 nights
    • Earn Globalist status with 20 nights (rewarding Aeroplan Members on the ground with exclusive benefits such as free breakfast for up to four people and, as available, room upgrades and 4:00 p.m. late checkout)
  • Aeroplan Premium Credit Cardholders will also receive:
    • Complimentary World of Hyatt Discoverist status that comes with late checkout (2:00 p.m.) as available, elite check-in and more.
    • Five Tier-Qualifying Night credits each calendar year to further accelerate progress toward higher World of Hyatt status.
    • Two attempts each year to earn World of Hyatt status through the annual 90-day status challenge.
    • The ability to earn points in both programs on eligible Hyatt stays, accelerating rewards while fast-tracking their way to status.

Overall

While I still think that World of Hyatt Globalist is the best top tier loyalty status on its own… there is a very strong case to made for going after Marriott Titanium Elite Status simply because it unlocks so many other status benefits via matching. If you can time it where you hit it with double elite nights – just 18 nights of stays, you could effectively lock up World of Hyatt Globalist in just 20 nights. Meaning, 38 nights total in hotels, but two top tier hotel statuses.

This makes a strong case for Marriott Titanium being the best hotel status across the board

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is great starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Chase Ink Business Cash® ,  Chase Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into the Sapphire Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee remains quite low at $95 a year and it has great bonus categories and useful statement credits that not only enhance your travel, but help offset the annual fee.

One thing that is a bummer is Chase lowered the transfer ratio to World of Hyatt from 1:1 to 4:3.
