Hyatt Prive at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

I recently traveled to Hong Kong, and as I was planning my trip, it was announced that Hyatt was rolling out a VIP program called Prive. While I carry Explorist status with Hyatt, it doesn’t really hold a lot of value as Globalist is the true heavyweight: club access, suite upgrades, breakfast etc. Shortly after publishing my announcement of Prive, I was contacted by a rep expressing interest in helping me with any future bookings. Since the Grand Hyatt was on the books, I canceled the reservation that I had, and rebooked with her. Here’s my experience with Prive – a full review of the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong is coming.

Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

Here are the hotels that qualify for Prive:

  • Park Hyatt or Andaz hotel
  • Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, or The Unbound Collection by Hyatt hotel
    • must stay 2+ nights

The Prive rates, in my experience, are the same as the Hyatt Daily Rate.

Here’s what you can expect to receive when you book with Hyatt Prive

  • Complimentary upgrade, if available
  • Priority early check-in and/or late check-out
  • Daily complimentary full breakfast for two
  • $50-$100 property credit per stay
  • Priority for connecting rooms

Arrival:

If you’ve arranged transportation via the hotel, you will be greeted by a senior staff member. If not, head straight for the World of Hyatt elite check-in desk. They took great care of us. We were pleasantly greeted by Winnie Lee, the Executive Assistant Manager or Rooms. She personally escorted us to our room

Upgrades:

We had booked a standard room, but upgraded to a Suite using World of Hyatt points, 6k a night. Prive ended up helping us secure an even further upgrade to an Executive Harbor View Suite. These suites are only accessed by going to the Club Level and then proceeded to a second set of elevators. Regardless, an upgrade is complimentary as long as it’s available.

You can also apply Globalist Suite Upgrades, Explorist Club Upgrades.

The Breakfast was amazing.

Full breakfast is included and it’s one of the best. Three total rooms offering western and eastern food options, pastries, omelettes, fresh fruit, juices, noodles, and on and on and on.

And would have cost us…310 HKD or $40 a person w/o service charge.

We also received a $100 room credit when we checked out.

We used to it offset the price of a robe. The robes at this hotel are the lightest, fluffiest, I’ve ever experienced, and my girlfriend was obsessed. However…I think in the future the program will limit this credit to either food and beverage, or services at the hotel. There was confusion at check out as to whether or not the robe counted. Ultimately it was deducted from the bill, but I have a sneaking suspicion that this hotel may amend the material given to guests, as our note said $100 Property Credit with no stipulations aside from room cost, taxes, surcharges.

If you’re interested in booking with Hyatt Prive – use one of our preferred Luxury Travel Concierges 🙂

If you’re going to be paying cash for your room, I just don’t see why you wouldn’t use Prive. Sometimes Hyatt prices rooms with member rates, but the benefits that you receive will more than likely pay for the difference in price many times over.
