Review: Singapore Airlines First Class 777-300ER Singapore To Dubai

We just left the private room, which if you haven’t read about…you should do so. It’s ridiculous. We were now headed to the next surprise stop…Dubai. My mom had an inkling we may head through Dubai because it hosts the world’s highest afternoon tea at the Burj Khalifa. I’d been lucky enough to experience it in 2015, and really wanted my folks to try it too. As a family, afternoon tea is something we’ve done together for years, and it worked perfectly to route us from Singapore because it would give us access to The Private Room, get another amazing First Class experience, and position us well to get to Europe for the final leg. Oh…and I really wanted my folks to fly in the Apartment…which they did from Abu Dhabi, only an hour’s drive from Dubai.  Check out our experience aboard Singapore Airlines First Class 777-300ER Singapore To Dubai.

The Deets:

  • When: April 2017
  • Where: Singapore to Dubai
  • Flight: SQ494
  • Loyalty: Singapore Krisflyer
  • Amount: 97.5 ( part of Beijing to Singapore to Dubai)
  • Seat: 1C

We were supposed to have the New First Class…But there was an equipment change the morning of the flight.

No sweat my pet. The Three of us were all in Row 1 and were ready to sip some Krug! As you can see from the initial cabin shot this plane offers 2 rows of 1-2-1 First Class whereas the new first class only offers 1. I haven’t flown the new first class, but from what I’ve read online there hasn’t been a huge enhancement to the product other than minor touchups.  Both my

The staff could not have better to my parents and their human/monkey camera crew. 🙂

Singapore knows how to treat their passengers extremely well. Generally speaking I’d say that this service was on par with Singapore Suites i.e. they anticipated our needs. The only difference is that one particular flight attendant on Suites was truly outstanding, Kay.  This isn’t to take away from the crew on this flight, it’s just she took a very special and personal interest in our family.

As you can tell, Miles was feeling pretty cocky about all the work he’d done for the trip. He’s been following Conor McGregor on instagram and I think it’s going to his head. a stuffed animal on a seat

Singapore gets that you shouldn’t have to make a choice when celebrating a birthday 😉

My mom isn’t a drinker at all, but she fell in love with Krug champagne on the Cathay Pacific First Class flight from Boston to Hong Kong.  Dom Perignon is well known to be a “fancy” champagne, but after we had them side by side she doesn’t really want anything but Krug. Miles! You’ve created a monster!!! lol.

The Seats:

Holy Cow. These babies are WIDE. 35 inches to be exact! That’s almost 3 feet! Don’t believe me…

and here I am in the same seat as my mom. Look at Miles over in my seat – he looks like something you’d clip on a keyring.

It’s so big they have to give you a moveable armrest. There’s no overhead bins, but both my bags fit underneath.

Let’s see how its tricked out

  • Ferragamo Amenity Kits
  • Super nice Pajamas – I like to wear them around my apartment building with my boarding pass “accidentally” stuck to them – jokes – everyone know it’s no accident 😉
  • Slippers
  • Storage pockets for daaaaaaaays
  • Huge screen and a remote which I found to be quasi user friendly.

My Dad actually preferred this to Suites:

I prefer the FC cabin on this flight to the Suites flight as it was more open and airy, but still maintained plenty of privacy.  The food and cabin staff were also very good.  But I’ll tell you what, if I were flying out of Singapore again, I’d fly Suites or FC either one, it would make no difference….as long as it got me into The Private Room again!

Miles and I were excited for dinner. We had our BYAH fingers going.

Dining

We all did “Book the Cook” – I just read options to my mom for a “surprise” dinner we would be having and told her the chef needed to know ahead of time what she’d like. I chose the Singapore Famous Lobster Thermidor. It made my taste buds very happy.

White linens. A charger! I mean…am I at a fancy wedding or on an airplane? Real silverware and cutlery. More Krug. Caviar…LOBSTER THERMADOR. Miles approved.

Good thing there is a great turn down service.

I awoke and lead a small, but private meditation series for those who wanted to follow along.

I loved it and wish they still flew this bad boy from IAH to DME ( it’s now IAH to MAN serviced with an A350 that isn’t equipped with First. You can read about it here.)

How could you not like this? As you can see, My dad actually preferred the cabin design better on this 77W vs the Suites on the A380. Both my Mom and I liked the privacy of the Suite better…but you can’t go wrong either way.

Also…I love when they put razors and tooth brushes, etc in the bathroom. It’s just somewhat embarrassing that Miles takes them all 😉

You don’t have to stop here. Check out how we paid $5k and took a $125k Surprise trip Around The World to celebrate my Mom’s 75th
