FinnAir, a One World member, dropped images of a stunning set of new cabin images. All of their current A350s and A330s will get retrofit and I have to say this cabin looks super sleek and exactly what I’d envision a Finnish airline product to embody. Deep blues, slim lines, very peaceful and modern in style. The seat is a Collins Aerospace AirLounge seat that is built to mimic household furniture rather than a traditional airline seat. FinnAir will be announcing which routes will feature the new product on March 1st and the hope is that all aircraft will be retrofit by end of 2023
One of the features immediately noticed as the flush blue door beneath the lamp – a nice improvement for storage compared to both of the current business class seats. It also appears that a wireless charging integration has been utilized as well on the table top. The bedding is MUCH MUCH MUCH cleaner and stylish than the old lime green combo which I felt was a terrible eye sore. It’s still designed by Marimekko but a much better color combo.
The last time I flew FinnAir it was on the A330 in a quite dense business class product that was less than impressive. The food was also…less than impressive.
I haven’t flown their latest iteration on the A350 but it looks very nice and features one of my favorite reverse herringbone configurations. One thing that immediately caught my eye regarding this business class product was the lack of a cabinet where the headphones are hanging. Two things I find most important in business class is how comfortable the seat is, and do you have secure storage for your personal effects. On other aircraft that area has a door and you can stow things inside.
Per FinnAir:
The seat’s innovative fixed contoured shell with no recline enables a wide variety of sitting and sleeping positions: you can sit at different angles, rest your feet on the ottoman or use infill panels to create a large flat surface. A mattress and duvet turn the space into a comfortable bed, and you can use the cushy pillows to relax in a variety of sitting positions. The high cocoon like shell of the seat provides privacy, while the divider between central seats can be lowered when travelling with a companion.
The lighting options in the seat allow tailoring the ambiance of every customer’s own “nest”. Along with a customised lamp that doubles as a reading light, a do not disturb light is included if total privacy is desired. The in-seat lighting complements new cabin mood lighting designed in partnership with Jetlite to combat the effects of jetlag. The design scheme is inspired by Nordic nature, complete with the northern lights as the cabin is dimmed for sleep.
The various storage options within the seat include spaces for personal items, laptop, and all pillows and blankets; all certified for taxi, take-off, and landing, so customers can settle in right away and have their essential items conveniently at hand right from the start of the journey.
The flexible table can be used to read, dine or work. Each seat comes with impressive connectivity, including USB A, USB C, PC power, and wireless mobile charging. All of Finnair’s long-haul aircraft are equipped with internet connectivity.
The Inflight Entertainment System comes with a new more user-friendly, customised interface and a wider 18-inch screen, making time onboard fly.
Center seats will have a full privacy divider. You can also see the work table and footwell – quite narrow, but typical of most business class seats. I’d guess that the bulkhead seats will have much larger footwells since they don’t have to squeeze under another seat, but haven’t seen images to support my speculation.
There is a small hang out area – so clean and fresh

Looks like a stunning new cabin design from back to front. You can read the full press release here.
