Marriott and Singapore Airlines announced that they were straight matching loyalists between the two programs with a fastrack to higher status upon completion of certain requirements ( one time affair so it seems on the upgrade ). While it’s not as great as Marriott Titanium matching to United Silver, it’s not too shabby if you fly Singapore quite a bit, and who knows, you could always use the status to advantageously match to another program down the road . Let’s take a quick look!
Status Match – valid for 12 months
Marriott elites match to Singapore Silver status, which honestly, doesn’t do a lot for me.
If you have Singapore PPS Club, PPS Club or Krisflyer Elite Gold
- You get matched Marriott Bonvoy Gold
If you have Marriott Bonvoy Platinum, Titanium, or Ambassador
- You get matched to Krisflyer Elite Silver
How to accelerate to higher status:
According to the terms, you can accelerate to higher statuses by completing challenges, but this is a one time affair – you’d need to hit the normal requirements after it expires. Interestingly enough, the Amex Marriott Brilliant comes with Marriott Platinum Status so you could potentially get Krisflyer Gold if you knew you’d be taking 4 flights in 6 months…this would give you United Club access when flying in the US regardless of cabin class.
If you are Marriott Gold
- Get Singapore Krisflyer Elite Silver
- Take 2 qualifying commercial flights within 6 months
If you are Marriott Platinum, Titanium, or Ambassador
- Get Singapore Krisflyer Gold
- Take 4 qualifying commercial flights within 6 months
If you are Krisflyer Silver…
- Stay 3 qualifying nights in 6 months to match to Marriott Bonvoy Silver
If you are Solitaire PPS Club, PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold Members
- Stay 10 qualifying nights in 6 months to match to Marriott Bonvoy Platinum
Overall
It seems the accelerate status promo is a one time thing…so keep that in mind, but this isn’t something I’m likely to take advantage of unless I happen to know I’d be flying Singapore Airlines a few times in a 6 month period, then I’d likely take the plunge and go for it.
