Qatar is the A350-1000 launch customer.
The A350-1000 is geared to compete with the 777-300ER offering a higher capacity configuration and ultra long haul range. The very first A350-1000 was delivered to Qatar Airways in Toulouse, France today and it was announced that the aircraft would start flying the Doha to London route. This route doesn’t come as a huge surprise as Qatar had previously expressed interest in flying the A350-1000 on shorter flights before integrating it into Long Haul and Ultra Long Haul flights. The first flight is this Saturday, Feb 24th, and will certainly be chalked full of your favorite travel bloggers. After that, the A350-1000 will continue to be integrated on the DOH-London route as well as an unspecified DOH to East Coast route ( The specific city hasn’t been named, but the A350-900 currently services NYC, PHL, and BOS). In total, Qatar Airways has 42 A350-1000s on order. Check out the specs of the new aircraft below.
