Looking to go to Mexico, Latin America, or the Caribbean? Book from August 6th to August 12th and get 50% off.
I received an email this morning alerting me to a very attractive offer from IHG. Book from August 6th until August 12th and get 50% off the normal award price. The booking window is small, but it applies to any participating hotel until October 27, 2017. Let’s take a look at the offer and some of the better deals that can be had during the promotional period.
IHG 50% award nights = Amazing Deal.
Typically the problem with these promotional deals is that they are only good at hotels no one wants to stay at. NOT the case with this one. There are several properties that I’d love to check out.
Here are 3 Full Service, Luxury Intercontinentals that range from 30k to 50k per night that can be had for half.
You could go to the Intercontinental Cancun
- From just 15k points
Work on your tan at the Intercontinental Cozumel
- Just 20k Points per night
Sing Despacito in Puerto Rico at the Intercontinental San Juan
- Stay from 25k points

Remember you can always buy IHG points for $0.007 per point which means you could essentially buy nights at incredible places for HUGE discounts over the cash rate. In fact, this would be a great time to purchase an Ambassador membership and enjoy upgrades and a few freebies. I’d guess that these hotels are incentivized for a reason, and I’d guess that reason is low occupancy. Low occupancy usually means better upgrades, or at least the opportunity to negotiate a great upgrade at check-in if it isn’t comped. The best upgrade I’d ever received was done at the Peninsula Bangkok during a low occupancy period. Well worth it.
