It doesn’t always make sense to buy points and miles, but it can in certain situations. You should do it with a redemption in mind, and avoid speculatively buying. In my opinion, Alaska has the best points offered by any U.S. Airline, arguably the world. Back in May, I received a targeted email to buy points with a 50% bonus. Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.
