Is the SPG buy2get1 free MC promo stackable with Citi Prestige?

I just recently signed up for a Citi Prestige and have yet to receive my card. I’ll be traveling through London later in the year and saw an interesting promo posted by fellow blogger Points,Miles, and Martinis:

Is the SPG buy2get1 free MC promo stackable with Citi Prestige?

This got me thinking…what if I could book this in conjunction with the Citi Prestige. After all, it is a Mastercard. I started playing around with different versions of the promo and realized that the deal is valid for buy 2 get 1, buy 3 get 1, buy 4 get 2. So essentially every 3 night is free. Well, I’ll be staying for 5 nights. I’d want to use the buy 2 get 1 free promo code ( M3D), which I found by making a faux booking here:

The reason behind making a booking for buy2get1 promo code is that the 3rd night should be free that way. If I were to book 5 nights and use the buy 3get1, the 4th night would be free and that would negate using this in conjunction with the Prestige. By using M3D I should be getting the chronological 3rd night free, and then the Prestige should get me the 4th night free.

The anecdotal evidence says the Prestige concierge should be able to book this rate

Now this is why this is still a question and YMMV, but technically from what everyone says about Carlson Wagonlit ( the travel agency Prestige uses) they can input a Promo Code, etc into their system and get you the same deal. This would mean that you would not only be getting the 3rd night free, but also the 4th night. I’m looking at a 5 night stay, but theoretically there is no reason that you couldn’t apply this on a 4 night stay – essentially getting buy1get1. Not too shabby!

Since the Prestige gives you a statement credit and it’s not a different promo code, special rate, etc – they should be able to be stacked.

Lemme know if this works for you! But it’s certainly worth asking about.

It’s here that you can mess around with the offer details and actually book 3for2 or 4for3. As you can see in my above deal, I used the 3for2 promo code, M3D, but booked for 5 nights. Reader Shaun pointed out that the terms of the promo shouldn’t allow this to happen, but in fact, the booking page is allowing me to book against the explicit terms that SPG details and Points,Miles, and Martinis laid out in his post.

Booking codes

  • Every 3rd night: M3D
  • Every 4th night: C1A

If you want to stack with Citi Prestige ( which I’m just hypothesizing should work ) you’d want to stack with the first code M3D. This should give you every 3rd night and then Citi Prestige will statement credit you the chronological 4th night. I would also make sure that the 4th night isn’t the cheapest of all of the nights, because these buy2get1 often times credit the free night for the cheapest night booked. I’m not seeing this explicitly laid out in the terms, but you’d want to make sure that the cheapest isn’t the 4th night otherwise you will have negated the stack.

You can now get 500 bonus points for making the booking using the SPG Android app just like if you had done it using the iPhone one.

    • Miles August 8, 2016

      thanks for the info Reynaldo!

I was able to book the 3rd night free promo in conjunction with the 4th night free from Prestige. Received confirmation of booking today from Prestige.

  • Shaun July 22, 2016

Terms of the Starwood promotion, at least according to the blog site you source, are minimum and maximum of 3 nights for the B2G1 stays. So don’t think you could book a 4 night stay and get the 3rd night free from Starwood.

    • Miles July 22, 2016

hey shaun – ya it says that, but if you look at the booking i screen capped, my stay is using the buy2get1 free promo code but i’m staying for 5 nights. there are actually different codes based off the length of stay. i went ahead and updated the post referencing your comment. hopefully this clears this up. YMMV but it looks like it can be booked in violation of those terms.

  • Easy Journeys July 22, 2016

    • Miles July 22, 2016
