American’s latest is close their greatest price ever.
American has released their latest sale on miles and if you’re in the market to buy points, and a lot of them…it’s worth a look. Nearly every month American will give you bonus miles, discount miles, or some variation, and the price ranges anywhere from 1.7 cents to a 2.1 or 2.2 cents. Buying AA miles for 1.8 cents is a great deal if you’re short on the miles, or just looking to get a great deal on business class for much cheaper than you could ordinarily purchase it outright. Let’s take a look.
The offer:
If you max out the deal it’ll cost you $4786.66 for 265k points. Or roughly 1.8 cents a mile.
There are tiered bonuses as well…but they are far less attractive:
7500 miles for $177 = almost 2.4 cents…not horrible but not worth it IMO. 149k +75k = 224k miles for $4755 or 2.12 cents a point.
If you max the deal, at 1.8 cents that effectively purchases a trip to Japan in business class for $1080 ( 10% less if you carry and Aviator/Citi Plat/Exec). $972 for one way business class is a solid deal.
