Starting October 1, 2024, Chase cardmembers can use www.chasecardbenefits.com to see a full list of their included cardmember travel and purchase protection benefit.  Chase will use Assurant as the benefits administrator and underwriter and we have a sneak preview as to what to expect come October 1st. One thing to note is the higher Auto Rental Coverage ( now on vehicles up to $125k MSRP with $60k of coverage ), travel accident insurance increasing to $500k, and extended warranty coverage going from $10k per claim, $50k per life of account, to $10k per claim/$50k total per year. You can see more of those details below.

Auto Rental Coverage (Update across all products that don’t already have a limit of $60,000 or more):

  • Coverage will now include more vehicles; cardmembers will receive up to $60,000 in coverage for eligible vehicles with an MSRP of $125,000 or less.
  • Extending the notification period from 60 days to 100 days.

Emergency Evacuation and Transportation (Update across all products with this benefit):

  • The service provider will now arrange and provide for emergency transportation for qualifying events, so cardmembers will no longer need to pay upfront and then file a claim.

Travel and Emergency Assistance (Added to select products):

  • If a cardmember runs into a problem while traveling away from home, this benefit provides legal and medical referrals and access to other travel and emergency assistance services. Cardmembers will be responsible for the cost of any goods or services obtained.

Travel Accident Insurance (Updated for select products):

  • Increase coverage from $250,000 to $500,000.

Lost Luggage Reimbursement (Added to select products)

  • Provides reimbursement for the cost to repair or replace checked or carry-on luggage that is lost or damaged during a covered trip.

Extended Warranty Protection (Updated for select products):

  • Upgrading coverage from $10,000 per claim and $50,000 for the life of the account to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per year.

Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance (Updated for the United Gateway card):

  • Upgrading this benefit to cover additional family members and covered reasons.

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee is quite low at $95 a year + you get a 10% anniversary bonus on points + $50 hotel credit in Chase travel.

Perhaps it’s implied, but in case there’s any doubt, the travel and purchase protection benefits described in the article generally apply to holders of the Chase Ink® family of business credit cards, not just Chase personal credit cards.

I have held the Chase Ink Business Unlimited Visa for several years, and it has been a “Steady Eddie” for me (even though my ongoing spend on the card is pretty low). Because Chase awards the rebates and signup bonuses through its Chase Ultimate Rewards points, cardholders can often redeem their award points for travel worth more than the amount of the corresponding cash rebate.
