July is almost over and it’s been a great month for bonus points. Chase Freedom earns 5x points at Restaurants and Wholesale Clubs through the end of September. But you have to activate those category bonuses for you to earn! Don’t worry tho, It’s retroactive for the quarter too, so if you haven’t activated yet, but you’ve already spent money on restaurants and wholesale club….activate now cause you’ll earn bonus points for those purchases. .Go here to activate your 3rd Quarter Chase Freedom Categories.
Remember that every quarter there is a new 5x category bonus up to $1500 per quarter. This quarter’s category is restaurants and wholesale clubs like Sam’s, BJ’s, and Costco. If you only have a Chase Freedom card you will earn 5% cash back because the Chase Freedom card is technically a cash back card. But, if you carry a Sapphire Preferred, Ink Plus, or Ink Bold card then for every $50 of cash back you earn you can choose 5000 Ultimate Rewards instead of cash back. This is because those are all premium cards that they themselves earn Ultimate Rewards and the balance from Freedom card can be moved into your collective UR account.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.
