Business Class to/from Europe for 25.5k Avianca Lifemiles

Currently, LifeMiles is offering up to a 40% discount on specific Star Alliance partner flights that operate between select city pairs here in the US and on international economy and business class routes.

The most interesting of all the redemptions is between Brussels and JFK for just 25.5k miles

The most award space I’m seeing is in the late winter – Feb/March time frame. You’ll want to search on United.com in calendar mode with the following specific search query BRU to JFK. Look for dates with 75k and $5.60 as the result and choose nonstop with business selected. A weird thing is happening where United shows award space on the JFK to BRU to fly Brussels Airlines business class, but unfortunately Avianca Lifemiles isn’t showing the award space.

You’ll then go to Avianca Lifemiles and do the following search on corresponding days. They won’t always align, but Nick at FM found that using Star Alliance worked best to find the space.

Here’s the full chart showing the discounts – images are straight from the LifeMiles website

  • Note that many of these are actually flights within the United States on United Airlines.
  • You can fly in either direction

How to earn Avianca Lifemiles?

You can transfer from Amex, Citi, and Capital One

Both issuers offer instant transfers ( although some have reported it taking over night to complete – this hasn’t been my experience )
