Avianca is having financial woes, and their approach is to incentivize us to boost their revenue through sales and discounts. I like it. In an era when we’re seeing programs absolutely gut their loyalty programs ( hey AA, UA, and Delta ) which ironically are their most profitable business units, Avianca has chosen a different path. Let’s just call them the Thoreau of air loyalty 😉
What are we talking about?
We mentioned, in this post, that you can currently buy Avianca Lifemiles with up to a 140% bonus. That’s 1.375 cents a point and unlocks an incredible bevy of great premium flights around the world. Well, GSTP, pointed out that Avianca has also reduced the price on a number of flights and routes on Star Alliance partner flights.
Book between now and June 19th, 2019
Here’s the full chart showing the discounts

- American Express ( Learn more )
- Capital One ( Learn More)
- Learn how you can earn 10x every time you stay at a hotel with the Capital One Venture card
The most attractive routes are the ones to Taipei where you can enjoy EVA business class ( Royal Laurel ) for an incredible 64k one way, or $880 with the 140% bonus sale.
Last year Avianca had some insane deals on first class where Asiana First was pricing at just 72k one way.
These are great deals, but not the very best we’ve seen. I’d love it if Avianca were to bring back this pricing before Asiana removed first class inventory in Sept.
