Hyatt is rolling out “Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt” which means you’ll be able to use your World of Hyatt points to book private homes. If you book using cash you’ll earn points, tier qualifying nights, etc. Initial roll out will be Hawaii, Florida, and Colorado. Hyatt already has a timeshare arm, Hyatt Residence Club, which you can use World of Hyatt points on already ( typically within the Destination by Hyatt collection). Many of those properties offer a great option for families who need more space, kitchens, etc.
I’d imagine that the new Homes & Hideaways will lean more Airbnb than timeshare. It’ll be interesting to see how these are priced, but one attractive thing, should the cash rates be competitive, is the ability to earn World of Hyatt status via Airbnb style stays. Marriott has a similar option, which I’ve never used, but having more options to earn/burn points is never a bad thing.
Homes and Hideways World of Hyatt benefits:
- Earning points and tier-qualifying night credits on stays
- Standard elite-tier bonuses
- Ability to redeem points for stays at home rental properties
This is a residence that will soon be available via the new program in Vail Colorado, associated with the Grand Hyatt Vail. What would be really cool is if properties like this, which are in tandem with a hotel, would extend the same World of Hyatt Benefits that hotel guests enjoy. For instance, I’m Globalist, it would be amazing if I could walk over an grab breakfast at the hotel.
