Via Twitter, Iberia announced NYC as the A350’s first destination

Iberia ordered 16 state of the art, jetlag fighting, Airbus A350s and via Twitter, Iberia let us know that New York would be the first destination serviced. In addition to that, the A350_production twitter account revealed that the airline would be training crew on the London to Madrid route. See where I’m going? This route is currently serviced by an A340 and was listed by Miles himself as one of the 5 ways to fly flat for 15k points. Starting in June, the route will either feature an additional crew training flight, or will take over the current A340 route. Either way, keep checking award availability because you could be one of the first passengers to try out the Iberia A350 intra-europe in their new business class for just 15k points, and on a lot of dates, under 13k.What’s even better? You’ll have flown it before the inaugural from MAD to JFK. Pretty cool.

The Tweets:

Specs on the new business class

  • 293 economy
  • 24 premium economy
  • 31 business class

The seat looks very much the same as Iberia’s current business class. However, the new seats will be a couple inches wider, offer a 6’4″ bed, an 18in sensitive HD touch screen, wider footrest, and more intra seat storage. The new Iberia A350 will also offer high speed internet.

How you can book the flight from LHR to MAD for just 15k points (12,750 off peak):

The new flights aren’t loaded yet, so there is no way to search the EXACT flight, but here’s the A340 flying next week, which is off peak. These crew flights will launch in June which has a TON of off peak days, but as soon as you get into July, peak takes over. The following is found utilizing British Airways search engine.
