IHG recently redid their approach to Point Breaks. Traditionally this had been a program whereby selected hotels worldwide were reduced to just 5k points a night. An absolute steal. However, time and time the vast majority of the hotels listed were amongst the lowest tiers of IHG properties, so the deals weren’t really that enticing. The redo, which I’m a fan of, consists of 3 different tiers of Point Breaks: 5k, 10k, and 15k. Critics say this is a devaluation of the program, and I see their argument, but I’d rather have access to properties that I’d actually stay at which cost me 10 or 15k than a ton of properties at 5k that wouldn’t be on my radar. IHG is also selling their points ( 200k max ) with 100% bonus til year’s end.
Last go around we had a record 11 Intercontinental hotels offered. This time…far fewer, just 4 – However, one looks incredible and would be a great redemption: Intercontinental Phu Quoc – 15k points ( just $75 a night when utilizing the 100% bonus I mentioned earlier).
Broadstrokes:
- Valid for booking through 2/18/19
- 2 per hotel per member

There are many hotels on this list that would be great for a roadtrip cross county – worth a gander.
