Skip over at Luxury Flight Club is bringing the noise once again with some killer roundtrip Business Class fares on One World. Loads of departure cities and these are bookable on OTAs, BA.com, Chase and Amex. I found dates to be available from now through early 2022 and even out of smaller airports like Indianapolis that connect through hubs. I think this is a great cash fare personally, but if you’re looking to save dough and use up some points…I broke down why I think it could be a good deal with Chase or Amex. I would highly suggest you look at cabin layouts if you end up on a flight issued by BA and flown by BA that you do it with a 1-2-1 cabin so you lock down Club Suites. AA’s business class is pretty solid throughout, but their super diamond and 77W are my favorite.

Using Chase or Amex to book – here’s how many points it would cost you.
Chase
If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve, you get 1.5c per point. So a $1500 flight would set you back just 100k points. This is roundtrip business class for 50k each way and none of those outrageous fees that you normally pay when going in/out of London. If you’re using a Chase Sapphire Preferred or a Chase Ink Business Preferred, you’d get laying down 120k points. Still a really fine redemption. Ordinarily, flights in/out of London have between $500-$1000 in fees roundtrip. Booking this way avoids those and also uses fewer points than you would probably use with a partner.
American Express
If you have an Amex Business Platinum, you get a 35% rebate when using points for business/first class. This would mean you’d be paying 97,500 points for a $1500 roundtrip ticket. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Have an Amex Business Gold? You would get a 25% rebate and end up paying 112,500 points for a $1500 flight. Ordinarily I’d shoot to get 2 cents per point, but you could book these flights in/out of london for less than these point rates by transferring into partners. That’s a darn good deal if you ask me. You could even try out BA’s new club suites.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is great starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.
If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex® and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Chase Ink Business Cash® , Chase Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into the Sapphire Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners
Annual fee remains quite low at $95 a year and if you use the $100 Annual Chase Travel Hotel Credit via Chase Travel℠ you’ll wipe out that annual fee every year. It has great bonus categories and other useful statement credits to enhance your travel.
One thing that is a bummer is Chase lowered the transfer ratio to World of Hyatt from 1:1 to 4:3.
