We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists what the highest offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

 If you’re going to have just one World of Hyatt credit card, my choice would be the personal version.

It comes with a more streamlined set of benefits and ability to offset the annual fee.

The big miss on this card to me is the lack of baked in elite nights ( you need to spend $10k to earn 5, but can do so over and over again ), and it doesn’t come with an annual free night award.

Where this card could come in handy is if your business spends a ton of money. You need 60 elite nights to hit Globalist status and you could hit that purely by spending $120k a year on this card.

You’d also get 10% back on all your award redemptions after spending $50k…but honestly, I think there are much better places to throw your spend.

5 elite nights for every $10k spend

This is a difference between the business and personal versions ( the personal gives you 5 elite nights every year for holding vs the business version which yields 5 elite nights every $10k spend ).

What are Hyatt points worth?

I believe the cheapest they’ve ever been directly sold was roughly 1.7c a pop

Earn up to 2x bonus where you spend most

Every quarter, you will earn a 2x point bonus on the 3 categories where you spend most

  • dining;
  • airline tickets purchased directly with the airline;
  • car rental agencies;
  • local transit and commuting;
  • gas stations;
  • internet, cable and phone services;
  • social media
  • search engine advertising;
  • shipping

What is Hyatt Leverage?

It’s a program whereby you can get discounts between 5 and 15% when making business bookings. You can join here.

How does the $100 statement credit work?

It’s divided into 2 separate $50 statement credits and can be used at Hyatt properties worldwide. You don’t need to stay at the hotel to use the credit, so if you’re a fan of the local Hyatt restaurant…you’ll get credit there.

Is this card affected by 5/24?

Yes, you will not be approved if your credit report reflects opening 5 or more new accounts in the past 24 months

Can you hold the business and personal versions?

Yes, that’s not problem at all as long as you fall below Chase’s 5/24 rule

What are some of my favorite Hyatt stays?

I have used points to stay at the following properties

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is great starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Chase Ink Business Cash® ,  Chase Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into the Sapphire Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee remains quite low at $95 a year and if you use the $100 Annual Chase Travel Hotel Credit via Chase Travelâ„  you’ll wipe out that annual fee every year.  It has great bonus categories and other useful statement credits to enhance your travel.

One thing that is a bummer is Chase lowered the transfer ratio to World of Hyatt from 1:1 to 4:3.
