Park Hyatt Buenos Aires

Is 60k points the highest we’ve seen?

We have seen a 75k welcome offer after $7500 spend in 3 months. This is a lower offer but lower spend as well

What are Hyatt points worth?

I believe the cheapest they’ve ever been directly sold was roughly 1.7c a pop

What is the adaptive accelerator? Earn up to 2x where you spend most

Every quarter, you will earn a 2x point bonus on the categories where you spend most – this is in addition to the 1x you get everywhere, so its doubling your points. In 2022, you’ll earn it on your top 3 categories, and then in 2023 that number will drop down to 2. Here’s a list of the categories included

  • dining;
  • airline tickets purchased directly with the airline;
  • car rental agencies;
  • local transit and commuting;
  • gas stations;
  • internet, cable and phone services;
  • social media
  • search engine advertising;
  • shipping

What is Hyatt Leverage?

It’s a program whereby you can get discounts between 5 and 15% when making business bookings. You can join here.

How does the $100 statement credit work?

It’s divided into 2 separate $50 statement credits and can be used at Hyatt properties worldwide. You don’t need to stay at the hotel to use the credit, so if you’re a fan of the local Hyatt restaurant…you’ll get credit there.

Is this card affected by 5/24?

Yes, you will not be approved if your credit report reflects opening 5 or more new accounts in the past 24 months

Can you hold the business and personal versions?

Yes, that’s not problem at all as long as you fall below Chase’s 5/24 rule

How does this card compare to the personal World of Hyatt Credit Card?

Here are the biggest differences in my opinion:

The personal version includes:

  • A free night up to category 4 after each account anniversary
  • Category 1-4 night after spending $15k
  • 2 elite nights every $5k you spend
  • Annual fee is $95

The business card includes

  • Adaptive Accelerator
    • earn 2x on the categories you spend most
      • dining;
      • airline tickets purchased directly with the airline;
      • car rental agencies;
      • local transit and commuting;
      • gas stations;
      • internet, cable and phone services;
      • social media
      • search engine advertising;
      • shipping
  • 5 nights every $10k in spend
  • 10% back on award nights after hitting $50k in spend
  • Hyatt Leverage

What are some of my favorite Hyatt stays?

I have used points to stay at the following properties

The Chase Sapphire Preferred is a great starter card that earns Premium Ultimate Rewards that can be transferred into over a dozen partners many of which are US based.

Welcome Offer

60k Points after $4k spend in 3 months

80k offer in branch currently – I think this should be online soon

Annual Fee

$95

Points Earned

Transferrable Chase Ultimate Rewards

Super solid welcome offer.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex℠and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash , Ink Business Unlimited you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee is quite low at $95 a year + you get a 10% anniversary bonus on points + $50 hotel credit in Chase travel.

  • 3x on dining
    •  including eligible delivery services for takeout
  • 3x on select streaming services
  • 3x on online grocery purchases
    • (excluding Target, Walmart and wholesale clubs)
  • 5x on all travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards – Chase Travel Portal
  • $50 Annual Credit on hotel stays purchased via Ultimate Rewards/Chase Travel
    • The begins immediately for new cardmembers and after your account anniversary for existing cardmembers
  • 10% Anniversary Bonus
    • Every year you keep the card, your total spend will yield a 10% points bonus. If you spend $10k in a year, you’ll get 1k bonus points
  • Chase Sapphire Preferred® continues to redeem at 1.25c in the Chase Travel Portal and the slew of other benefits remain in tact including primary rental car insurance, purchase protections, etc.
  • Points are transferrable to 13 Ultimate Rewards partners
  • Redeem in the Chase Travel center for 1.25 cents per point
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Suite of Travel and Purchase Coverage
    • Primary rental car coverage is my favorite

There is currently an 80k offer after $4k spend in 3 months available in branch, and up to 90k after $6k spend in 6 months. I suspect some version of this will be online soon if you don’t want the hassle of going into a branch.

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 60k is a very, very good offer. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back. .

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

    Thanks for this info! I have both cards. Which would you recommend using to try and keep Globalist? The 2 elite nights every $5k you spend for personal or the 5 nights every $10k in spend for business card?

  • Tanc April 6, 2022

    Hi Miles, I love your site. I hate to nitpick but I’m pretty sure that the bonus categories for the card only get 2x total. 1x standard plus 1x bonus point for a total of 2x. Hyatt also refers to the brand hotel spend as 4x “bonus” points but that is the total. It’s not 5x. The “bonus” term is a bit confusing. I have the card and this has been the rewards structure so far.

      Hey Tanc, I updated the 2x – my bad! and made the 4x/5x section a little clearer. Thanks for the head’s up!
