So I carefully planned out a trip to Puerto Vallarta to check out the new Ziva, relax, tan, and earn some great Stay More Play More bonus points. Flights were more expensive out of LAX than SNA so we opted to burn some hilton points, stay at the Hilton Costa Mesa and fly out early the next morning. My mistake occurred in crediting Alaska to American.
American’s chart for earning on Alaska flights:
I knew I had booked a discount economy ticket and didn’t really think anything of it. I figured I’d earn 100% base and 50% EQM. but NOOOOOOOO I booked an R class fare.
R class you say? I don’t even see R class
That’s right. There is no R class, which is very misleading and also means that you earn NOTHING
YES, R earns flipping nothing.
What a flip sticking crap of a deal. Oh well…The PV Ziva was dope on dope on dope and we saved bucks flying out of SNA, but it certainly annoys me to feel mislead. Although it was my short-sidedness not to double check the fare bucket, it’s still completely omitted from the chart, which feels like a de facto disception.
My loyatly right now is with AA for the year as I’m shooting for Executive Platinum, but I will more than likely switch my alliance to Alaska come the new year.
