Park Hyatt Doha Review: A Luxurious Stay in Qatar’s Capital

My wife and I were flying Qatar Airways Business Class, booked with 55k AA miles, from Manchester to Doha to Cape Town, and one option was to split it into 2 day
flights, vs one day flight and one redeye. I thought it would be much easier to split it into 2 day flights with a stopover in Doha to have a proper night’s sleep and a solid
meal.  The Park Hyatt Doha ended up being the perfect luxury refuge we needed for a quick night’s stay filled with extras due to our booking via Hyatt’s VIP program
called Prive. Let’s get into our stay!

Booking the Park Hyatt Doha

We used my buddy Spencer to book this for $170 via Hyatt Prive – if you aren’t familiar with Hyatt Prive it’s a “VIP” program that anyone can use whereby the hotel recognizes you as a special customer and provides the following benefits:

  • Room Upgrade: Enjoy a one-category room upgrade, subject to availability at the time of check-in.
  • Early Check-In: Guaranteed early check-in at 12 PM, subject to availability.
  • Late Check-Out: Guaranteed late check-out at 4 PM, subject to availability.
  • Daily Breakfast for Two: Complimentary daily breakfast for two guests per room.
  • $50-$100 Property Credit: Receive a property credit of $50-$100 per stay, depending on the hotel.
  • Welcome Amenity: Enjoy a special welcome amenity upon arrival.
  • VIP Status: Receive special recognition and VIP status during your stay.
  • Best Available Rate: Access to the best available rate at the time of booking.

The property is also a category 5 property meaning you’ll pay 17k to 23k a night for an entry level room. The prive rate made more sense to me.

Location

The Park Hyatt doha is located in Downtown Doha roughly 15 minutes to the airport. You’re in a great location to check out multiple tourist attractions on a longer layover. Here are 5 things you may interested in seeing.

Check in

You’ll go through metal detectors on the main floor, street level, and hop in an elevator to the lobby level. We were greeted warmly and given the full run down of what Prive provides us and told we had been given a one category upgrade. The restaurant on the roof was still open and they made us a reservation 30 mins after arrival

Dining Options at Park Hyatt Doha

3 options

  • Sora
  • Opus
  • Anis

We chose Sora on the roof which served Japanese food and was absolutely delicious. We used up the full $100 credit on dinner ( which was perfect since we were leaving super early the next day for our flight to Cape Town ).

Why Choose Park Hyatt Doha?

There are a ton of super nice hotels in Doha, but being able to book a VIP rate downtown for $170 was a no brainer. I’ve stayed at the St Regis Doha as well, but it’s much, much further away from the airport and right on the beach. If you’re going to be staying a couple of nights and looking to enjoy the beach – I’d highly recommend that property, but if you’re looking for a hotel closer to the airport that offers 5 star amenities for a very reasonable price, I’d definitely recommend the Park Hyatt Doha.
