POP Post: Grand Hyatt Taipei

Let’s be honest. Sometimes you don’t want to read a whole review. So we’ve created a new series called POP post: Pictures Only Post. Posts in this series will feature the product, minimal description, and focus on 5-10 Pics.  A more detailed review will come in the following week or two, but here’s a quick look at the Grand Hyatt Taipei, a gorgeous category 4 Hyatt hotel perfectly located in the shadow of the Taipei 101.

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Taipei with my buddies: Fritz and Dave. The Grand Hyatt Taipei is a Category 4 Hyatt. In fact, every Hyatt we stayed at on this trip was Category 4. This meant we could use a Chase Hyatt Credit Card night, which we did, and then 15000 points for a quick 2 night stopover en route to Vietnam. We stayed over the 29th and 30th of December and the rates were over $300 a night. Huge savings thanks to HGP. Here’s quick overview of the property.

The Lobby is Mega – they were setting up for NYE when we got there.

We didn’t get a suite upgrade, but the twin beds were super comfy

Walk out the side door and you’re looking smack at the Taipei 101. How amazing!

It was a bit cold to swim while we were there, but the facilities were very nice.grand-hyatt-taipei-grand-club-deluxe-twin-75-of-86

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee is quite low at $95 a year + you get a 10% anniversary bonus on points + $50 hotel credit in Chase travel.

I like it. Keep them coming

Nice! We were there the same time you were. We stayed there 29th and checked out the 1st. We used 24000 pts anight to confirm the suite about 7 months in advanced and had the suite in 817.

They even gave us an option to upgrade to 1 category higher suit on on the 11th floor on the other side of the building for an additional 6000ntd about 200$ a night so we get a view of the 101. But after checking out the room we decided against it because the views were only of the first 30-40 floors. And the room was only marginally larger.

We got a dope full video of the fire works right as we stepped out of the hotel as well. Definitely worth the 72,000 pts!

Dave – Thanks for reading and sounds like you had an INSANE trip. Would love to make it back sometime to see the 101 fireworks, and the GH is the perfect spot! Happy you had a sick trip
