I’m a sucker for art deco, and have long wanted to stay at the Holston House in Nashville, and for whatever reason, every time I pass through the city ( which I do often ) I end up staying at another property. Well, finally, the time came where the price was right, and I pulled the trigger. Hot diggity was it the right time, because my wife and I received an absolutely insane upgrade – to basically the best suite in the hotel. Let’s take a look!

Location

Smack dab off Broadway. It’s a great spot if you’re looking to hit this part of town

Check-In

Wow, wow, wow did they bury the lead. They checked me in, said they’d upgraded me to a suite, but they DID NOT tell me which suite they upgraded me to. Holy Smokes.

a large room with stairs and a staircase

Room – 1201/ Presidential King Suite!

When we talk about incredible upgrades…this is it. The room features a guest bath, wrap around balcony, massive bar area, large living room, tons of light, access to the pool which is down the hall…it’s an incredible room. This would be a great spot to have a bachelor party.

Dining

  • Heirlom Rooftop

I had dinner off the lobby at Bar Tenn, a quick Nashville Hot Chicken and and an Old Fashioned. In the morning we had breakfast at Tenn which was just fine, nothing to write home about honestly.

Pool

It was closed while I was there, but as you can see, it would be a pretty cool pool in great weather.

Conclusion

If I didn’t get the best upgrade that you could possible book, on a points booking to boot, I wouldn’t choose this hotel over other Nashville properties, unless you’re looking for a party hotel with a pool scene.  This hotel has a vibe that it will get down and dirty, so just keep that in mind. Personally, I like the Grand Hyatt as a Hyatt property, the Jospeh if you’re looking for super lux with modern amenities, The Hermitage is you’re looking for old school lux, The Thompson if you want to be a bit away from the mayhem of Broadway, and the Conrad if you’re looking for a great use of Amex FHR credits.

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee is quite low at $95 a year + you get a 10% anniversary bonus on points + $50 hotel credit in Chase travel.

The pool looks eerily like the one at the Grand Hyatt Nashville. Did you have a short stay during the week on this trip? I can’t imagine that suite being free much on weekends.
