Review: Hyatt Regency Chicago O’Hare

Hyatt offers a few options at O’hare, not to mention a bevy of options from competitors, but the Hyatt Regency Chicago O’Hare had a pretty competitive rate of $125, and I was particularly interested to see how my Explorist status would be treated. The Hyatt Regency also offers more of a complete hotel experience with a club level, sundry store, conference facilities, fitness center, and a full restaurant and bar. We were going to be arriving around early evening, and heading out to Montreal early in the morning, and wanted a bit larger hotel with a decent dining option and regular shuttle service to the airport. With only a $10 difference between the Hyatt Regency and the Hyatt O’Hare we snagged the Hyatt Regency Chicago O’Hare.

A quick tip about the shuttle.

You’ll grab the shuttle near the Hilton hotel and we got there RIGHT as the shuttle was pulling out of sight. Less than 15 mins later another showed up. This was another reason we picked a larger hotel – more resources for shuttle buses.

Check-In

The Hotel was PACKED. They were hosting an anime/comic-con as well as hosting a few airline crews and it was JAMMED upon entering check-in. I was pretty surprised that we waited less than 2 or 3 minutes.

The Room:

We were on the back of the hotel with a quiet room and a MASSIVE tv. We were looking to grab some food, and rent a movie. This TV was CLUTCH!

The bathroom was very small, with just a stand alone shower, and a small sink. For a quick overnight stay, no problem.

Dining:

Grabbed a veggie burger and some potato skins. Maaaaaybe a couple beers 😉 Food was decent, but the price is steep! Cool, sports bar vibe.

Fitness Center:

Adjacent to check-in you’ll find the fitness center. For an airport hotel gym…I found it to be pretty decent.

Overall:

It was a very good stay. While we didn’t get any “extra” upgrades or benefits, the room was solid. Would I stay here again? Ya. Will I probably check out another spot if transiting through Chicago again? Miles does like content 🙂

Stayed here for 1 night before connecting on JAL in am. Best part was the airport pick up bus. I never saw such a airport transfer bus before. I complained about slow internet and no hot water for few mins in am and they waived cash charges and returned points to account 🙂
