Small Plane Crashes on South LA freeway
This video is shocking and it’s a miracle that both passengers on the plane were able to escape the crash on their own volition ( Update: They were actually pulled from the plane by a volunteer firefighter who was a good samaritan). Apparently the Cessna 310 departed John Wayne airport ( Located in Orange County – roughly 30 miles south of LA), the pilot declared an emergency, and was trying to get back to the airport when the crash happened on the 405. The latest update is that they’re being treated for critical traumatic injuries.
The video shows not only the crash, but also has audio of the communication between the pilot and air traffic control. Details are continuing to roll out, but it appears that their was an engine failure and the pilot was attempting to get back when it clipped a vehicle on the 405, which is a very large freeway in Southern California, and the crash followed. The plane did clip a vehicle, but the driver was able to pull over and appears to be uninjured. Our thoughts and prayers are with both individuals on the plane and anyone else impacted with this awful accident. ABC7 has full details and up to date coverage.
