American Express recently upped the public offer on the Business Platinum ( 100k after min spend until 12/4/19) , and since welcome offers are only once in a lifetime, I unfortunately, wouldn’t qualify. Then, lo and behold, I sent a targeted spend offer: Spend $10k by 12/1/19 get a bonus 10k membership rewards.
What do we think?
Honestly, any bonus is a bonus, and that can’t sloughed off, but compared to past spend bonuses, it feels a bit paltry. I believe a couple of years back people were receiving 50k bonuses for $10k spend ( I wasn’t targeted, but my fiancee was.)
What it really amounts to is a single bonus point on a hefty amount of spend. I already have the Blue Business Plus so earning 2x points is something I’m already set up to do; however, if I were to spend the $10k in one fell swoop I’d get the 50% bonus that Amex Biz Plat cardmembers earn on purchases over $5k, so I’d get 25k points on $10k.
Will I do it?
I love getting bonus points wherever I possibly can, but since I’ve been targeted multiple times for adding additional cardholders, my feeling is if I pass this one over I’ll be hit up again, and perhaps for more? Fingers crossed.
