MMMondayMemo: Enter 100x+ for United’s Billion Mile Giveaway

In case you’ve missed it United is giving away a Billion Miles. 100 lucky people will win 1 million miles. There’s a couple ways to enter for the contest. The first is using the link here for United.com  where you enter all your info. The second is using your United card from Chase. Every single time you make a purchase you are entered. The Monkey Miles Monday Memo will show you a clever way to maximize your purchases so you can enter 100x+ for United’s Billion Mile Giveaway.

Using your United Card requires no registration: It’s automatic

Let’s be honest. If you have the United card you probably signed up for the whopping 70k bonus that was offered earlier this year, or you signed up a while ago, and if you’re like me, you don’t even use the card and it sits in a box or a drawer. Well this promotion has provided the incentive necessary for me to make some purchases – so PROPS to Chase and United for offering a lucrative reason to push spend through the card.

The promotion gives you an entry for every purchase

HUGE DEAL. If you’re like me you like to buy things on Amazon. Well Amazon has a great way of loading the account with small amounts at a time. So here’s the thing if you want to buy something that is $50….load your account with $0.50 reloads. Instead of getting 1 entry for a $50 purchase, you’ll get 100 entries.

Step 1: Go to Amazon.com – Pull down Your Account and open it

Step 2: Reload your gift card balanceScreen Shot 2016-09-10 at 10.22.10 AM

Step 3: Manually enter the value you’d wish you reload – I do the least…$0.50

Step 4: Use a key stroke to go back…keep cursor in place. This will conserve time. Rinse and Repeat

I have done this twice now for roughly $150 worth of merch – that’s over 300 entries

It took me about 10 minutes to load 150 times for each $75 purchase. The thing I will tell you is that the account has a delay and it usually takes up to 15 minutes after you’re done loading for the balance to be accurate. I had loaded about 30 times at this point and my balance only reflected 13 loads.

Obviously there is no guarantee I will win, but I’m gonna get as many entries as possible

I want to fly Polaris and am banking Miles to do so.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Careful. As a prior Chase Banker I can tell you that Chase looks down on these small purchases (see Freedom promo from years ago).

Just tread with caution. Blacklisting by Chase is not fun.

Is this just for US residents?

    • Miles September 12, 2016

      Hey Anne –
Looks like only for legal residents per the terms and conditions. Hope all is well across the pond!
