United will fly the 787-900 LAX-LHR in Summer 2017
According to Jim Liu at RoutesOnline United will fly the 787-9 LAX-LHR beginning April 4, 2017. United’s 787-900 will replace the current 777-200ER on the earlier flights out of LAX and LHR. United runs two daily flights from LAX-LHR. With the addition of the 787-900 to the schedule it will mean only one flight will feature United’s Global First Class product. I’ll be reviewing United’s 787-900 business class on a domestic route, IAH-LAX, in the next few weeks.
Which flights will feature the 787-900?
- UA060 leaves LAX at 1510 and arrives LHR at 0940
UA061 leaves LHR at 1140 and arrives LAX at 1450
They’ve been loaded on to the schedule
Seat Map for United’s 787-900 vs 777-200ER
As you can see, the 787-900 does not feature a First Class.
The 787-900 BusinessFirst Interior Specs
2 Class Layout with 48 Business First seats and 204 in Econ ( 88 are Econ Plus). Seats are identical to the shorter 787-800.
So if you’d like to fly First you’ll need to pick the later flights in the day which feature the 777-200ER.
UA923 Leave LAX 17:50 arrive 12:20 LHR 777
UA935 Leave LHR 14:10 arrive 17:20 LAX 777
Although I won’t be flying the 787-900 on an international route, I’m interested to compare United’s 787-900 BusinessFirst product to the 777-200ER GlobalFirst I flew a little over a year ago. One thing’s for sure, the United Club and United Global First lounges at London’s Heathrow are phenomenal.
