The American 100k bonus was released yesterday

100000 Bonus AA miles

250,000 AA for under $4000. Less than $0.016/mile

That is ridicuously cheap.

You have til July 8th
You have til July 8th

What could you do with those miles?

Fly to Brazil or Europe in business class for $1832 + taxes/fees

I wrote an article last week about wide open business/first space for holiday travel to Brazil.

  • Each way is 57,500 AA – so we’re talking 115k. That’s just under $1832/ person roundtrip.

Do you have a credit card that gives you 10% of your redeemed miles back?

  • Citi cobranded Aadvantage Platinum cards: personal and business
  • Barclay Aviator
  • up to 10,000 miles.

That brings the cost of these tickets down to 105k roundtrip

Now we’re talking about $1672. 65 roundtrip + $65 taxes and fees for a Brazil R/T.

What are some other sweet spots in the AA chart?

Region Business Class Miles NeededCost at $0.01595
South America 130000$480
Europe 57500$917
Asia 160000$957
Middle East70000$1,117

The one that pops out the most is South America Region 1.

  • Peru is considered South America Region 1
  • Machu Picchu is high on a lot of bucket lists and AA flies it’s newly retrofitted 767-300 on this route.

But make sure the seat map looks like this: other wise you’ll get an old crap product.

new 767 cabin

Roundtrip would be 60k and with 10% credit card discount, just 54k!

That’s only $862 r/t in business/first from the States to Peru. Incredible Value.

  • It’s also worth noting that LATAM flies a lie flat from JFK to LIM…

Let me know what you guys find and if you pull the trigger! Looking forward to hearing your stories!!
