Earlier in the year Alaska Airlines and Japan Airlines announced a partnership
It was unclear what the Alaska Airlines earning rates would be and how the redemption charts would look. Well, part of that mystery is now solved: the earning rates. While this isn’t nearly as exciting for me as what the redemption levels will be, it’s still great information to learn. Per the Alaska Website they will like this:
For flights taken after June 29th, 2016
Cabin | Class of Service | Mileage Earned | Bonus Miles |
---|---|---|---|
Economy | Q,N | 30% | - |
L,V,S,O,G,R | 50% | - | |
H,K,M | 70% | - | |
Y,B | 100% | - | |
Premium Economy | W,E | 100% | - |
Business | I | 70% | 25% |
J,C,D,X | 100% | ||
First | F,A | 100% | 50% |
*According the Alaskaair.com the award chart will be released later this year.
Alaska will more than likely be my program of choice next year. When I found out that they were going to have a partnership I nearly jumped off my couch. Miles thought I was nuts until I told him. Then he danced around the living room like a marionette doll – if only I had video… Anyways – I’m hoping they allow for First Class redemption and chart resembles that of Cathay Pacific.
Alaska Air just ended a fantastic promotion where they offered a 50% bonus on all purchased miles. My experience has been that Alaska offers a purchase bonus at least quarterly, I think this past bonus was a sort of olive branch to those who were screwed over by the crazy Emirates chart devaluation.
