At the end of April you’ll see many routes that once were operated by Virgin America switch to Alaska flight numbers. Those will be great routes to try and fly as they’ll operate with the old Virgin planes which feature a better main cabin as well as first class. It’ll also be the first time that upgrades will actually happen on a Virgin America plane ( their program didn’t offer this benefit to its own elites). Additionally, a leak has circulated that Alaska may try to penetrate the luxury transcon market and develop its own lie flat seats. A MAJOR win if it happens for us Alaska Elites that don’t really have a luxurious way to fly from coast to coast. Today, Alaska furthered their integration by announcing some updates to their first class with new menu items, tablets, lounge development, and local wines + micro brews.
