This may be what I need to book a ticket!
I’ve wanted to go to Iceland for quite some time, but haven’t prioritized the trip for a number of reasons. I have a little stash of American miles, and seeing that they will be running their retro-fitted 757 on this route may be just what I need to book a trip. Another reason…AA typically loads in quite bit a award avail right when the flight becomes available to book, and you can move around award flights free of charge as long, space is avail, and origin and destination remain the same.. See where I’m going with this?
Here’s a look at the press release
When can you buy and the time frame – Tickets go on sale 11/2017
AA’s new 757-200 will feature a business class similar to the A321T:
Overall:
I’m excited about this seasonal route, and have yet to even see their retrofitted 757-200 so it’d be a fun experience to enjoy as well. For a lot of people this could provide one of the best ways to access Iceland while using/crediting miles to a major U.S. carrier.
is it during the best times to see the northern lights??
Dotti – it’ll be there summer, so the days will be very long, and won’t be the best for northern lights
They are trying to compete with WOW and Iceland Air who are both starting DFW/KEF routes at the same time. Look at the prices, you can get a seat on WOW to many places in Europe in a Business Class seat for $400 less than an AA flight in basic economy.
This flight is not just about flying to KEF, it will cut into AA/BA flights to Europe with 2 low cost options out of DFW
