Bilt Rewards has added Marriott Bonvoy to their list of transfer partners adding even more opportunities to redeem what continue to be some of the most valuable points you can earn. Of course you should have full disclosure, I am an investor and advisor to the program, but Bilt is the single program that offers transfers now to AA, United, IHG, Hilton, and now Marriott Bonvoy. Even more, they consistently have status based transfer bonuses that range from 75% to 150% – that is just unreal.

In regards to the new Marriott Partnership, Bilt is offering a 5k bonus for every 20k Bilt Rewards that are transferred to Marriott Bonvoy

  • 20k Bilt Rewards = 25k Marriott Bonvoy

This may look familiar to those of you who were Starwood loyalists ( they used to offer 20k Starwood points = 25k Airlines miles ), and the Marriott who offer, for most airlines, a 5k bonus when you transfer 60k Marriott Bonvoy to airliens ( 60k Marriott Bonvoy = 25k Airline Miles ).

Bilt Rewards has 14 partners ( 11 airlines and 3 hotels )

  • Airlines
    • American Airlines Aadvantage
    • Aer Lingus Aer Club
    • Aeroplan
    • British Airways
    • Emirates Skywards
    • FlyingBlue ( KLM + Air France )
    • Hawaiian Airlines
    • Iberia Plus
    • Turkish Miles and Smiles
    • United MileagePlus
    • Virgin Red
  • Hotels
    • IHG One Rewards
    • Marriott Bonvoy
    • World of Hyatt

No. It’s highly doubtful seeing as tho I believe Bilt Rewards are easily worth 2 cents a pop, probably more when you factor in the constant transfer bonuses, and Marriott are arguably worth 7/10c to 8/10c a point. You can often buy them for this amount, and if you extract 1 penny per point you’re doing pretty good with Marriott points. Even with the 20k to 25k ratio, in most situations it doesn’t make sense to me.

The exceptions would be redemptions like the St Regis Maldives, JW Marriott Masai Mara for safari, Al Maha outside of Dubai for safari, or hotels in those category especially if Bilt decided to do an insane transfer bonus. In that situation, yes, I think you could argue a transfer has value, but otherwise, for me personally, I don’t think I’ll transfer Bilt to Marriott very often.

Recap

When I partnered with Bilt Rewards nearly two years ago I felt they were trying to do something truly different and value oriented to their members. Adding Marriott, creates more redemptions options for their members whether I would make the transfer or not.
