The newest Singapore Suites have been on my bucket list for a long, long time. I flew the first iteration back in 2017 for my Mom’s Around the World trip, and couldn’t wai to fly the updated Suites. In fact, I was originally going to fly these in 2019, showed up to the Singapore airport, and was denied boarding due to failing to have am e-visa to India ( I thought I could get one on arrival – what a tragic mistake ). Since that original booking, I’ve had these suites booked 4 more times, only to have to cancel for one reason or another.
Finally…the opportunity came about to fly them again on my annual buddy trip I take with my best friend Dave. We’ve been doing these trips for 15 years, and this one was taking us back to Southeast Asia, and the sun shined on us. We booked the suites…and flew them.
The only aircraft that has Singapore Suites is the A380. It’s on the upper deck ( the old suites were on the lower deck ), and the entire cabin is just 6 suites. We were very lucky that no one else flew with us and we had the entire Suites cabin to ourselves.
First…how do we get Singapore Airlines Krisflyer Miles?
It’s a 1:1 partner of
- Amex
- Citi
- Chase
- Capital One
Second.. we need to know where it the Singapore A380 flies
The easiest way to go about figuring this out is to use Flight Connections – as you can see, there aren’t many routes that the plane flies.
Europe
- London
- Frankfurt
Asia
- Beijing ( sometimes )
- Shanghai
- Hong Kong
- Tokyo
- Mumbai
- Delhi
South Pacific
- Sydney
Third, we want to hone in on the Asian routes – the cheapest
Back when I flew these in 2017, we paid just 50k a ticket to fly from Beijing to Singapore. One thing that can confuse you is that when looking at availability, as you can see in the image below, sometimes Singapore says flights aren’t available on the flexible view, but on the actual date, flights are bookable. This is what happened to us.
Mumbai/Delhi – this is where we flew the Suites. This is the perfect way to start off a trip to see the golden triangle.
Always confirm it’s on the A380…as you can see here, these are both 777s. The rates are the same tho
Hong Kong – 4 hour is hardly enough time, but would be so fun on at just 45k miles
Tokyo – I couldn’t find any Saver…Advantage is 120k
The Best experience is out of Singapore where you’ll have access to their Private Room
This is one of the most exclusive lounges in the world. You must be ticketed on Singapore Airlines First Class…Star Alliance elite members don’t have access. It’s a lounge within the First Class lounge. Yes, that is a bedroom ( complete with a temperpedic bed ). So, yes, you could book from say Shanhai to Singapore, but you wouldn’t get the full experience unless you also flew first class out of Singapore somewhere else.
Booking Tips
There are a few things, at least over the years, that have proven to be intermittently successful techniques when booking.
The 30 day rule
This comes and goes, but throughout 2022,23,24 the Indian routes would release all seats 30 days prior to departure at saver. This worked like clockwork. This year, it hasn’t really been the case, but you will see more space inside 30 days.
Adding on a segment
Starting or ending in Singapore is often hard to find. But…you will find them release the long leg if you also attach a shorter leg to it. For instance, if you started your trip in Jakarta, instead of Singapore, suddenly, for the same price, you can fly down to Sydney for 155k points a get a leg in the A380.

Waitlisting and booking
Another tip is to waitlist the flight on saver, but also book it at advantage rates. This is hit or miss, but Singapore will release
Overall
The new Singapore Suites have been on my bucket list for a long time, and we were very fortunate to get two seats 1A/2A that joined together and enjoy them for the almost 6 hour flight to Mumbai. We also got to the airport nearly 4 hours ahead of our flight so we could wine and dine in the private room. The whole experience was incredible, and I’d obviously love to do it on a much longer route. But, hey, is there a better way to spend 60k points? I think not.
