Points for half a penny.
Hilton is offering a very solid deal to shore up your Hilton Honors account: For every point you buy, they will give you a free point. Normally you can only buy up to 80k points a year, but this deal will actually double your base amount, and let you buy 160k points, and still get another 160k bonus. Points devalue all the time, so I’d advise you to heavily consider this when making a purchase, and only do so if you have a definite redemption in mind.
What’s an outstanding use of 320k Hilton Honors? How about the drop dead gorgeous Conrad Bora Bora. 80k a night base rate.
If you have Silver or higher status ( Gold comes with an American Express Platinum and Diamond with a Amex Hilton Aspire ) you’ll get a 5th night free when using points. That means if you can find the availability, you could stay for 5 nights at the Conrad Bora Bora for 320k, or as I’ll show you, utilize Hilton’s generous pooling to stay at the Conrad Maldives for 380k
Another insane redemption? Conrad Maldives. 95k per night, take advantage of pooling.
You’ll need 380k Hilton points to snag the Conrad Maldives and stay in an overwater hut, so you’ll need if you’re starting from zero, you’ll need to pool. The cost? $1900 for 5 nights at a hotel that typically charges over $1k per night. Let’s take a look
Since Hilton allows pooling of up to 2 million points across multiple accounts, this deal is within reach. Note the most one account can merge is 500k.
Here’s a look at availability in January on 5 night stays.
What would that room normally cost? Look at 1/4 to 1/9 – ridics
If you look at the check out price of a water villa for just 5 nights…over $11k. What would be even better is if you had the Hilton Aspire card and threw a free weekend night at it as well, staying a whopping 6 nights for 380k points/ $1900 with this deal.
As we said in the intro, don’t buy points speculatively. And we’re also giving outrageously aspirational and insanely expensive destinations to show the potential of deals like this. Don’t buy points to redeem at your local Hilton Garden Inn by the airport unless it makes sense. Crunch the numbers. We’re just trying to show you what’s possible, and what we’re truly shooting for when we buy points during offers like these. In fact, we purchased earlier this year and wrote an entire article about it.
