Capital One Venture X gets comped PRIOR subscription
We’ve declared the Capital One Venture X the best super premium card for most people and more and more benefits continue to be added. As a member benefit, a complimentary membership to PRIOR is now included ( valued at $149 a year ). I was unfamiliar with PRIOR until Capital One added this as a benefit, and let me tell you, the trips and guides are SWANKY. I enrolled, which you can do here, and was given immediate access to itineraries and exclusive trips that you can book as a member. These aren’t cheap by any means, but they sound super cool, and should you want to use points toward them, my understanding is you can.

The following trips are exclusive to Capital One Entertainment and the Venture X:
Savannah Trip Highlights: March 23 – 26, 2023
With its ancient oaks and Georgian architecture, Savannah is the picture of Southern Gothic. But while its 18th-century homes and shaded squares are the stuff of Southern legend, there’s more to it than Old World charm: independent bookstores, film festivals, and sustainable restaurants. Do as Savannah’s socialites do and linger, cocktail in hand, in antique-filled homes, and learn African-American history from a Gullah-Geechee storyteller. With a storied past and promising future, Savannah is a gem of the American South.
Guests will experience: a roving cocktail party progressing through some of Savannah’s quintessential squares and historical mansions, culminating in Jim Williams’ Mercer House from bestselling novel Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil; private dinner hosted by a James Beard Award-winning chef; cocktails and dinner on a private terrace overlooking Savannah’s historic district at the iconic The Olde Pink House followed by a nightcap and ghost tour; a decadent Lowcountry boil with Common Thread, one of Bon Appetit’s 50 Best New Restaurants in 2022, at a Bluff Drive private residence overlooking the river; underground walking experience of Savannah’s African American history with, a Gullah Geechee Master Storyteller; visit the hauntingly romantic Bonaventure Cemetery, where American songwriter Johnny Mercer and writer Conrad Aiken are buried, before an indulgent picnic at Forsyth Park; peruse the shelves of the region’s world-renowned antique shops with a local expert.
Sun Valley Trip Highlights: June 29 – July 2, 2023
As the country’s first ski resort, Sun Valley embodies all-American leisure. Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, and other luminaries have skied its slopes, considered among North America’s best. Still, it’s best defined by its laidback air: whether fly-fishing in Big Wood River, conquering Mount Baldy, or wandering the Western-style village, there’s a no-fuss charm here that allows the natural landscape to take center stage no matter the time of year.
Guests will experience: Stay at the historic Sun Valley Lodge; dine under the stars of the Idaho Dark Sky Reserve with an expert astronomer; a morning wildflower walk into a private brunch inside a Sun Valley mountain hut; master the art of fly-fishing at a private ranch on Silver Creek, one of Ernest Hemingway’s favorite fishing spots, before enjoying a creekside trout cookout; visit the 41st Annual Sun Valley Museum of Art Wine Auction with exclusive early access to their River Ranch Wine Walk, where guests will meander down the river, visit famous homes, and sample food and wine from top regional chefs and winemakers; take the gondola up Mount Baldy to the famed Roundhouse River Lodge for cocktails and views; spend the evening at Pioneer Saloon, a beloved local institution in the historic town.
Napa and Sonoma Trip Highlights: October 19-22, 2023
In 1976, Napa Valley changed the world of wine when it beat France in the Judgment of Paris blind tasting. Ever since, the region has been luring oenophiles and leisure travelers alike with its rolling vineyards and Mediterranean climate. While most visitors follow the same vineyard circuit, we’ll taste the latest vintages with experimental vintners, learn oyster harvesting, and dine with the region’s most celebrated chefs. Stay at Sonoma Valley’s Madrona hotel, a hilltop Victorian manse with pool and mature gardens.
Guests will experience: Stay at one of Napa’s newest most anticipated hotels, The Madrona; insider access to established and up-and-coming wineries and vintners accompanied by a master sommelier; exclusive tour of Single Thread Farms followed by a private seated dinner; celebratory dinner and wine symposium with Cristina Salas-Porras Hudson and Lee Hudson at Hudson Ranch where guests will mingle with the region’s top winemakers and taste their offerings, and luxuriate in a morning spa experience at Indian Springs where guests will enjoy their signature mud bath treatments and hot spring pools; private wine tasting with winemaker Jessie Katz where guests will sip from Aperture Cellars and Devil Proof Vineyards wine in their gallery space; explore the vineyard and get insider access to Promontory with their head winemakers and master sommelier; a long table dinner in the vineyards of OVID; and oyster shucking and cheese tasting on the coast.

Overall
Here is how I will probably make use of the subscription… look at the itineraries and things to do that they curate, and then possibly use points to book a trip that would mimic their itineraries, but in a cheaper way. I often do this with Abercrombie and Kent, &Beyond. This tells you which hotels are to their standard, which it appears PRIOR has a quite luxurious standard, and then you can see if you could book a similar trip that may be more budget friendly.
