4 Reasons to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card now
The quintessential beginner card for anyone looking to turn points into their travel dreams is the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. We thought we’d break down 4 reasons why we love the card, keep it in our wallet, and also provide you with some pretty pictures to whet your travel appetite.
#1: Access Chase Ultimate Reward transfer partners
The biggest reason, IMO, that this card is so valuable are its partners. Your travel dreams lie in utilizing partner programs to fly in some of the world’s best first and business class programs. Chase has built a world class list of transfer partners that I’m continually using to achieve my travel dreams, and so can you.
In fact, Chase allows you to move points in between cards. Meaning if you have a Chase Freedom or Chase Freedom Unlimited, for instance, and you don’t want cash back, you can move those points into your Chase Sapphire Preferred account and then into partner programs, like Singapore Airlines pictured below, to redeem in some truly incredible ways. Yes, those Suites have doors
#2: 60k is a solid offer
in 2021, Chase ran a 100k offer for several months which was cray cray . Offers have varied between 60k and 80k otherwise. Note, you may be able to walk into a Chase branch and get it with a waived first year annual fee.
Reason #3: You’re building your Wallet or under 5/24
The Chase Sapphire Preferred is a great card, with a low annual fee of $95, upon which to start building your suite of cards to fulfill your travel dreams. As you can see in the other reasons I’m laying out, the card provides great access the Ultimate Rewards family of transfer partners, primary rental car coverage, and a great welcome offer. It’s a fantastic place to start.
If you’re just starting to build your wallet then, odds are, you don’t have to worry about being under 5/24. 5/24 means you’ve opened more 5 or more credit cards in the past 24 months. The Chase Sapphire Preferred is restricted to those who have, but it’s also restricted to those who have received an Chase Sapphire bonus in the past 48 months…on this card or the Chase Sapphire Reserve.
Reason #4: Primary Rental Car Coverage – Collision Damage Waiver
The Chase Sapphire Preferred provides primary rental car coverage, not secondary. This is an important distinction and affords you the opportunity to decline the pricy insurance that your rental car company will offer at pick up, and still be covered.
What is covered? Auto Rental CDW reimburses you for covered losses to the rental vehicle while it is in your control or in control of another Authorized Person. The benefit only covers vehicle rental periods that do not exceed or are not intended to exceed thirty-one (31) consecutive days within or outside of your country of residence. Covered losses are: • Physical damage and/or theft of the covered rental vehicle • Valid loss-of-use charges assessed by the rental company while the damaged vehicle is being repaired and is not available for use, as substantiated in the company’s fleet utilization log • Reasonable and customary towing charges related to a covered loss to take the vehicle to the nearest qualified repair facility. Auto Rental CDW is primary coverage and provides reimbursement up to the actual cash value of the vehicle as it was originally manufactured. Most private passenger automobiles, minivans, and sport utility vehicles are eligible for coverage, but some restrictions may apply.
Now is as good a time as ever to pick up The Chase Sapphire Preferred
