I just booked a couple of First Class/Business tickets from LA to Delhi using 70k Alaska Miles and $40. The first leg will be on a 77W in first class, the 2nd on Japan Airlines’ new 787-9 with reverse herringbone 1-2-1 business class ( Sky Suite III ). I think it’s absolutely outstanding deal, especially considering it’s all bookable online. If I’m being honest, I’m using these tickets as backups to the routing I really want, which is via Bangkok on a combo of ANA first/Thai First, but the space hasn’t opened for two people, and we’re considering changing our routing to this as a hedge. I just booked them, and wanted to secure our seats. Here’s the process, which is pretty much the same across most airlines that partner with Alaska.
Step One: Log into your account – go to My Trips
Here you’ll find a list of your current purchased trips. Click on the one that corresponds
This is where Alaska shines. It provides you with not only the AS record locator, but in this specific situation, also the JL record locator. Copy and Paste that
Go to the partner airline. Japan Airlines
Find Manage booking in the drop down menu.
Click Manage booking:
Choose the 2nd option, enter your info. Just the first flight is needed to access the itinerary.
And Voila: You’re in. Go to the bottom, click select seats and you’ll have access to the seat maps to reserve your choices.
