Convert SPG to AA with 50% bonus
As you probably know, whenever you convert the highly valuable SPG starpoints to an airline you get a 5000 point bonus for every 20,000 transferred. There are a few exceptions to this rule ( the airlines that don’t transfer 1:1), but for this deal that’s the case. What makes this deal even better is that SPG and AA are running a promotion whereby you get an additional 20% on top of the original 25% bonus…that means when you convert SPG to AA with a 50% bonus you’d get 30k AA for every 20k SPG transferred.
Example:
- Convert 20k SPG to AA
- SPG will give you a 5k bonus on the transfer
- AA will give you a bonus on the total transfer amount (25k) = 5k
- For every 20k SPG you transfer you will be 30k AA

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.
