Delta is notoriously bad at opening up saver rates on their highest volume routes. In fact, I’d say the best use of Delta Skymiles are often on their partners: this is what I did when I redeemed Skymiles on China Airlines fantastic Super Diamond Business Class in 2016. Well…until TOMORROW…that has changed. Delta is having a flash sale and space is available on a ton of routes between the States and Europe. I copied and pasted the chart straight from Delta with links in tact…scroll to the bottom for ways to book with Virgin miles
Details:
- These are roundtrip Delta One sale fares
- They start at $2199 or 128k plus taxes and fees
- Must be purchased by tomorrow
- Travel between August 7th and September 5th, 2019
- Must stay over a Saturday, max stay 12 months
If you end up purchasing any of these reduced tickets I’d highly recommend using your American Express Platinum card which earns 5x points on airline tickets made directly with the airline.

The ever ingenious Nick over at Frequent Miler dug up some goodies booking with Virgin
Virgin Atlantic is a transfer partner of Citi, Chase, and American Express which means more ways to shore up your balance if you’re short compared to Delta which is only an Amex partner. He discovered that most of the routes in the Delta sale are available to Virgin to be booked on their site ( some other cities are not purely because Virgin’s site doesn’t offer them so you’d have to call in ). The best part of using Virgin Atlantic is you can book just one way, but also it’ll cost you just 50k miles and in a lot of cases a fraction of the taxes and fees. HIGH FIVE!
As an example here’s a look at a cool route between my hometown of Indianapolis and Paris. Oh la la!
