How to get your AA record locator off a BA record Locator
There is a super simple way of doing this. Used to, you’d have to go to Amadeus and use the check your trip function. That was pretty easy, but it required knowing about Amadeus, remembering it, and there always seemed to be an added step. We want things EASY ON EASY! So obviously AA and BA heard the call for EASY on EASY and have made our lives SOOOO much simpler. Here’s how you can find your AA record locator off a BA record locator.
Step 1: Find your Record Locator on BA.com –
Log in to your account and scroll down. You’ll see this:
Step 2: Open a new tab and go to aa.com. Enter your info and BA record locator
Don’t log in. If you log in this won’t work.
Step 3: Check out your AA record locator
If you notice…your record locator has changed.
Why do you want this?
Primarily so you can add it to your American account. In this example, I booked a flight for Christmas using BA Avios. However, my AA Executive Platinum status is essentially moot because it was booked through the BA system and wouldn’t show up until I checked in. However, with the AA record locator I can have a rep add it to my account. Now I can pick better seats and maaaaaaaaaaaaybe charm my way into an upgrade when I check in. Although that’s not suppose to happen…Miles has a killer smile 😉
